The LC 2 Sofa Le Corbusier: Contemporary Furniture Creation Of The Brilliant Modern Architect Le Corbusier
Individuals over and over again think of Le Corbusier for the homes, offices, and other buildings he has created all around the world, but everyone who has read regarding the history of furniture design would also identified him to be one of the finest furniture stylist of all time. Renowned as one of the establisher of the Modern movement in architecture and furniture creations, the Swiss-French Le Corbusier created life to some of the primitive examples of what is now recognized as modern furniture. One of Le Corbusier’s creations that is still being produced
at present is the LC 2 Sofa Le Corbusier.
Along with the LC 2 furniture group, the Le Corbusier No. 2 or LC 2 Sofa Le Corbusier is a two-to-three seater sofa completed on loose black leather cushions outline by a chrome-plated or black matte tubular steel border. The sofa was among a number of designs created by Le Corbusier with Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret and was influenced on the LC 2 Petite Lounge Armchair, the pride and joy of the LC2 group.
Most likely the first thing most persons notice about the LC 2 Sofa at first gaze is its exterior frame. This “cushion basket” look was very innovative for its moment, as conventional sofa designs completed during the early 20th century had the border on the internal under layers of padding and upholstery on the exterior. The LC 2 Sofa Le Corbusier contributes this design with the LC 3 Sofa, a two-seater sofa design by Le Corbusier established on the Grand Comfort armchair.
The LC 2 Sofa Le Corbusier, was along with the Le Corbusier’s creations selected for presentation at the influential Salon d’ Automne art exhibition of 1929, and was created shortly after. These days, the Cassina furniture company of Milan is the certified maker of the LC 2 Sofa, even though reproductions by other manufacturers have also multiplied on the market.
