Removing Dirt from Your Carpets to Lengthen Their Life

The vacuum cleaner is one of the most helpful and convenient cleaning appliance in anybody’s home. It is also simple to care for. Most vacuum parts such as bags and belts can be found in most hardware, appliance, and discount stores. Think of its many uses. You just plug it into the wall, and the vacuum pumps the dirt out of your carpeting quickly as you run it back and forth across the floor. You need to run the vacuum back and forth over a single spot a number of times so that the vacuum’s suction can draw the dirt out of the carpet’s pile. It’s important to run the vacuum frequently to extend the life of your costly carpeting to a long, beautiful life. Sand, in particular, is the worst enemy of your carpet. Each grain of sand has sharp edges on each facet of its crystal, and each of these sharp edges acts like a knife. As time passes, the sand in your carpeting severs the strands of the pile, and causes it to wear out. But sucking dirt out of the carpet isn’t the only job of the vacuum cleaner. Most vacuums are accessorized with a long hose and an army of cleaning tools. Most vacuums can’t get the dirt at the very edges of the carpeting, along the walls and in the corners. To remove this dirt along the walls you need to attach the hose to the vacuum and use the crevice tool. It is a long narrow nozzle that guides the vacuum’s sucking power into the corners. The small, round brush on the extending wand and the hose works well to sweep the cobwebs from around the ceiling and lampshades. The oblong brush is another useful tool. It can remove the dust from the upholstery of your couches and chairs. If you have carpeted stairs, this brush is also useful for vacuuming the stairs. You know how prone to wear the front edges of the steps are. Thus, removing the damaging dirt is even more important on the stairs.

Many households have two or more vacuum cleaner. The large, main vacuum is for the large job of maintaining the carpet. However, it is not practical for keeping other spaces clean. A compact, portable vacuum cleaner is useful for keeping the cars clean and tidy. Cars tend to accumulate dusty dirt, dried leaves, and dead bugs, to say nothing of dropped Cheerios, French fries, and candy wrappers. After a trip to the beach, a thorough vacuuming is necessary to protect the car’s carpeting and to keep the sand from being tracked into the house. If this portable vacuum is cordless, it is even more convenient. You can use it outdoors without having to worry about finding a long extension cord.

If your plans include building or remodeling your home, you may find it worth the money to install a built-in vacuum system.

As you can see, the modern householder who is committed to a clean domestic environment finds the vacuum cleaner to be an indispensable cleaning appliance.
